| | | Tibet, on the lofty Tibetan Plateau on the northern side of the Himalayas, Known as “Roof of the World” for its towering peaks. It shares Mt. Everest with Nepal. Its capital, Lhasa, is site of hilltop Potala Palace, once the Dalai Lama’s winter home, and Johkang Temple, Tibet’s spiritual heart, revered for its golden statue of the young Buddha. Tibet was closed for tourists after the earthquake in 2015 as it was impossible to reach here through land. Now after many project’s Tibet is open for the Tourists by land and as of now there are no direct flight from Kathmandu so travelers need to fly via Chengdu with overnight stay at hotel at Chengdu for flying in / out Lhasa. Himalaya Airlines is planning direct flights between Kathmandu – Lhasa once a week effective from the last week of December. As per Air China, they will be resuming the flight to Lhasa effective last week of March, however the schedule is not published yet and booking in their system is not yet opened. China Visa Minimum 4 working days will be required to apply / obtain the China Visa from Kathmandu for those who want to combine Nepal with Tibet. | |
